Centered around the reflective lyrics and soaring vocals of Megan Flechaus, Austin-based indie group FlecHaus plays an accessible, mature brand of American folk music. Their debut single “What We’ve Got,” won the L.A. Music Critic Award for Best Group Single. They have since released seven singles and have become mainstays of the Austin live music scene. The highly-anticipated EP Last Match, made with producer Benjamin Alan Levy, is set for release in June 2019.
Megan Flechaus began writing songs at the age of 15. One of her first songs, “Moon Mansion,” which provided an early glimpse of her instinctive melodic sense, was featured in the indie film King’s Faith. Her first full-length album, New, was released in 2014. The spare, haunting, predominantly acoustic set earned Megan a devoted fan base and considerable word-of-mouth momentum. On the strength of that release, Megan relocated to Austin to focus full-time on music.
In 2015, Megan formed the five piece group FlecHaus to explore more complex and ambitious arrangements. Teaming up with Dominick Chaillot (bass), Molly Fischer (harmony vocals), J.J. Pereira (drums) and the classical flutist Kenzie Slottow, her next batch of songs incorporated sophisticated harmonies, experimented with length and form, and borrowed freely from jazz, blues, and country. The group has released seven singles to critical and popular acclaim, gaining a devoted live following and a considerable online presence. The music videos for “Pitter Patter” and “Tell Me Something” have each amassed over 12,000 views on YouTube.
FlecHaus plays frequently in Austin clubs, where they have earned a reputation for their tight performances and down-to-earth, conversational stage presence. In 2019, their single “Beautiful Things” was nominated in the Independent Music Awards for Best Song in the Adult Contemporary category. FlecHaus is scheduled to tour nationally in summer 2019 in support of the EP, Last Match.
