Outer Loop
The night shines through my windshield.
I’m lost in its magic field.
My mind is awake,
like I know some truth that we feign
to see in the light of day.
My heart is drawn to
only roads that lead me to
the one that carries through
‘fore I’m flying northbound
away from you.
Shine your light on me.
I catch shadows of the truth
as I orbit ’round your avenues.
Try my eyes to see
‘neath the furtive cloak I knew
each ride around your outer loop.
Perhaps it’s just a notion made
as that transitory brilliance fades.
But, it was mine, I was there.
If you asked me, I’d swear
the wind was your own fingers
just combing through my hair.
Shine your light on me.
I catch shadows of the truth
as I orbit ’round your avenues.
Try my eyes to see
‘neath the furtive cloak I knew
each ride around your outer loop.
Shine your light on me.
I catch shadows of the truth
as I orbit ’round your avenues.
Try my eyes to see
‘neath the furtive cloak I knew
each ride around your outer loop.
